In 2015, two major earthquakes shook Nepal. The first earthquake on April 25 2015, killed over 10,000 people, injured over 18,000, and destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes. The second quake 13 May 2015, toppled already weakened buildings, triggered a series of landslides further hampering relief efforts.
Within days of the disaster, the MZ & KZ SHAH FOUNDATION-UK, SHISHUKUNJ and DHARMA BHAKTI MANOR STANMORE organised to raise funds for immediate relief. Through your support £160,000 was raised to provide emergency food, drinking water and blankets, but also enabled rice distribution, zinc roofing shelter, essential building tools, sanitation facilities, water projects and emergency shelter for schools.
Our continuing journey of HOPE FOR NEPAL now leads us to the needs of the children and their futures. When disaster strikes children are the most affected and vulnerable. Whilst food, water and shelter provide immediate aid, these children now need our help to give them a chance of a real future through schooling and education.

With your support we will be hosting a night of soulful bhajans by Shishukunj members. We hope that you’ll join us to make this event a success in sharing our prayers and raising the much needed funds for the children of Nepal. Our evening will begin at 6:00pm, a light meal and refreshments will be served during the evening’s programme.
This is a free, but allocated ticket evening. We hope that your hearts will be open in donations, helping us raise the much needed £40,000 target for this event.

Hundreds of schools were damaged or destroyed during the 2015 earthquakes. Our programme focuses on the districts of Dhading, Nuwakat, Rassuwa and Gulmi where many children do not even have a basic structure to study within. In these remote areas the need is so great that we are not talking about fancy architectural buildings but a safe classroom with essential elements needed for children to learn and flourish in a dignified way: a roof, natural light, doors and proper walls, sinks and toilets.
Schooling has the power to provide the children with a sense of normality, helping them to better cope with new challenges to adapt and heal, while also ensuring as little disruption as possible in their development. Education is a foundation no earthquake or tragedy can take away.
The entire programme requires the complete rebuild of schools, ensuring education for several thousand children. Some of the schools within the programme now have funds pledged from donors, communities and sponsors, however not all of the schools have funds pledged and we need your support to provide that additional funding.
Our target for this event is £40,000 to help rebuild classrooms for the identified schools and this is why your support and donations for this event are vital in enabling us to complete the programme and ensure our commitment to these children.
